Description

Perhaps it is difficult to find a doctor who would never have prescribed Megamentin 375. Therapists, pediatricians, urologists, gynecologists, ENT doctors – doctors of all specializations do not represent their practice without this antibiotic.

Both patients and doctors perceive Augmentin as a modern antibacterial agent. Meanwhile, the drug has been on the market for more than a decade.

The combination of amoxicillin and clavulanic acid, which became the basis of Augmentin, was developed in 1977-1978 by scientists from the British company Beecham. A little later, in 1984, the pharmaceutical giant received a patent for the original Augmentin. Today, the drug continues to produce the company GlaxoSmithKline, the successor to Beecham. WHO – the World Health Organization – included Augmentin in the list of essential medicines.

Amoxicillin is a semi-synthetic penicillin broad-spectrum antibiotic. It is practically an analogue of Ampicillin and differs only in small structural changes in the chemical formula. The composition of Augmentina amoxicillin is included in the form of trihydrate.

Clavulanic acid is a product of fermentation of Gram-positive bacteria Streptomyces clavuligerus. This substance is a part of Augmentin in the form of potassium salt.

Augmentin is distinguished by a wealth of forms of release. The company GlaxoSmithKline produces many different dosages of the drug. When specifying the dosage, the manufacturer shall indicate separately the dose of the antibiotic (first digit) and clavulanate (second digit).
