Accordingly, Zovirax preparations are used to treat infections caused by the listed viruses, including chickenpox in children and adults, herpes (on the lips, genitals), etc. Also, the drug is used to treat patients with acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS), as well as to maintain normal health and resistance to infections in people who have undergone bone marrow transplantation.

Generic Zovirax in the form of a cream because of the concentration of 5% is often referred to as Zovirax 5. A drug in the form of an ointment is simply called Zovirax ophthalmic. Lyophilisate powder, intended for the preparation of a solution for injection, called Zovirax in ampoules. The cream is available in plastic bottles with a dispenser with a volume of 2 g, as well as in aluminum tubes of 2 g, 5 g and 10 g. The drug is a homogeneous mass of white.
